After a long flight to Taiwan with very little sleep, we handled some much needed logistics with our remaining two brain cells (cash, cards for the train, getting to our hostel).

The next morning we walked around, visited Da’an park nearby, and ate as many things as we ran into.

Soymilk, tea, egg, pork bun
Self timer!
Da’an park
Green onion pancake
Grey heron

We went next to Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial, a massive and gorgeous structure, followed by hours at the modern art museum. We were particularly taken by this giant robotic hand that moved with great fluidity and was surrounded by trees and sounds of nature.

Instead of a midday return to the hotel, which would have been a normal thing to do after such a long travel day previously, instead we continued to wander around, drink bubble tea, and look down all the gorgeous side streets in Da’an and Zhongshan. We also saw Taipei 101 up close, which we had seen from around the city.

At some point, Jensen suggested we stop eating to make room for that evening’s night market, one of many in the city, which was a very smart idea. It was full of people, smells, sounds, and delicious food.

Michelin starred buns ready to go
And being baked!
So porky so good
Crispy shiitake mushrooms with honey mustard
Michelin starred peanut mochi
Watermelon juice-the verdict was “pretty good!”
Lemonade, tart enough to burn my throat in the best way

Very full and worn out from a full day all around cloudy and lovely Taipei, we called it a night after 13.5 miles of walking. Cheers!
